Patriots or Pacifists?

What would have happened if, on 9/12, America had said to the Saudis, the Syrians, the Iranians, and the rest of the Oil-Empires of the world that we were about to wage an anti-fossil-fuel war upon them? Why would we do such a thing? We are the biggest consumers of fossil-fuels in the world. We have filled our vehicles and have fueled economic empires among absolute enemies and questionable allies. Both have funded the rise of Al-Qaeda, Hamas, and other anti-Western terrorist movements.

Our challenge to the super-magnates of the oil world may have been, "Al-Qaeda is your problem. The Taliban is your problem. Saddam and his obstinance is your problem. Fix them! Show us you're our allies. Hunt down, depose, burn, and destroy every last one of those who would bring ill-will to American soil. Move quickly. Move absolutely. Move overtly. For though we will never return to the dependence upon you, which you now enjoy, we will respond kindly to your strength. We will not displace you completely."

Today Iran threatens disruptions in oil supplies and our markets tremble. Yet we, the biggest fossil-fuel consumer in the world, could have reversed that dynamic. We could have thrown the oil producers into a frenzy to solve the same problems in which we have become embroiled. We could have set forth a multi-year, multi-billion dollar plan to convert our economy from gasoline and diesel fuel dependence, to alcohol and hemp-oil freedom.

We've spent billions anyway. Is Al-Qaeda gone? Is Hamas gone? Is Afganistan at peace? Iraq? Our soldiers are spilling their blood to fight a war against ourselves. Is our hunger for fuel more important to us than the thousands of American lives that have been lost in Iraq? We fill our tanks, and pay for anti-American extremism. Oh, and we allow Iran to punish us for it. You may wonder who has a more immediate impact upon our economy: Bush or Iran's Ahmadinejad? He punishes middle-American families at the pumps, terrifies our markets, and the extremist machine he loves kills our children in dusty, foreign battlefields.

The true irony is that we did this to ourselves. We're still doing it. We're pacifists in a political/economic war that had its origins long before 9/11. Decades ago, against the wisdom of some of the most brilliant minds of the day, the American government outlawed continued research into the production of hemp fuels (not to mention an array of hemp products that threatened logging, pharmaceutical, and other industries). Believed by many to have such cost-effective production potential, at such massive quantities, hemp oil was predicted to completely displace sulfur-rich diesel fuels and heating oils.

Wow. Inexpensive fuel that doesn't pump caustic sulfuric pollutants into the air? Imagine that. Why didn't it happen? Is it because we didn't want teens to get stoned? No. That was and is an excuse. Our government, the biggest drug pusher in the world, gladly taxes addictive and destructive substances such as cigarettes, knowing the poor dying fools using them will always come back for more. It's a great revenue source. Had Cannabis been as dangerous as tobacco to the individual, and as harmless to big money interests, it would have joined the realm of government-sponsored addictive substances.

But it was a threat to big industry. So, under the guise of saving Americans from themselves, our government engaged in an incestuous relationship with multiple industries, including "big oil," to begin the process of eradicating one of the most important and beneficial agricultural products of all time. The propaganda machine has been very effective. Even in the midst of our big "fuel crunch" do you hear politicians demanding a return to hemp fuels? No. If you raise your voice in favor of hemp legalization you are branded a strange, semi-intelligent, pot-smoking radical.

What Is the Purpose of This Site?

I'm challenging you to be something more than what I expect you to be. And what is that? I expect you to be a pacifist. I expect you to sit back in the comfort of American ease, and watch stupidly as our economy contorts, our enemies rise, our children die, and our environment rots. I expect you to become angry and thrilled when pundits speak. I expect you to hate someone: Democrats perhaps, or maybe Republicans. But I expect you to do nothing about what really ails this country. I expect you to be a pacifist with a big mouth, speaking about everything, and doing nothing.

But, in the face of my lack of faith, I issue my challenges:

Challenge #1: Sacrifice 30 seconds of driving time for every American who has fallen at the hands of anti-American extremism, beginning with those who died on 9/11. As part of the challenge, I challenge you to find out how many have died, multiply out 30 seconds for each of them, and make a plan to give back a half minute for the loss of each and every lifetime. (It should total a little over 40 hours)

How do I do it? If I carpool I deduct half of the time of the trip, as I shared it with another. If I ride a bike or walk to a destination, I deduct the time that would have been spent in a car. I cancel a lengthy vacation, and head to nearby hills instead. I may trash my gas-guzzling junker, buy something fuel-efficient, and equate the fuel saved with miles - and time - otherwise driven. Be creative, but be absolute. Don't save on one side to justify gluttony on the other.

It's only 30 seconds for each life that has left us. These lives will never dream, feel, laugh, or breath among us again. It's only 30 seconds.

Challenge #2: Convert passionate self-interest into revolutionary mentality. Take a look at the choices we make throughout our lives, in our businesses, in our careers, and how carefully we make them in order to improve our situation. This site has more than 100 categories of products and services listed in the columns, and we've barely touched the surface. Research them. Use them. Look at what we do to help ourselves. There is nothing wrong with evaluating our past and present, and planning a productive future.

So the challenge? As you look at all of these decisions we make, comparing apples to apples, options to options, oil to oil, compare yourself as an American Pacifist to yourself as an American Patriot. America is hurting, and there's something we can do about it. But it won't happen if we continue to dwell in blissful, stupid, pacifistic, numbness. Do something good for yourself. And do something good for your country. Join me. Let's make a difference.

In the great wars (if war can ever be great), the overwhelming majority of the population joined in the war effort. But we've become accustomed to being pacifists. Take on big oil interests and elected officials, and separate the illicit lovers. Demand a return to sanity. We could still choke the economic life out of our oil-rich enemies, and prove that they're as addicted to the dollar as we are to petrol. We're the consumers. We have the power. We're also the people. It should be our government, not the corporations', and definitely not the lifetime politicians'.

Write to your politicians. Call them. Speak to them. Then do it again. Do it until they respond. Then do it until they start doing something about it. If they won't act - if they're pacifists - throw their stupid, lazy butts out of office. Then go after the next politician. This is not a right/left, or a Republican/Democrat issue. It's an American issue. Demand an honest look at overcoming our addiction to fossil fuels, beginning with war upon the oil machine ..... Here's a news flash:

If things continue as they are now, the large multi-national oil conglomerates will outlive the American economy. They may even outlive America. They will continue to manipulate our legal, political, and propoganda systems, in collusion with our government, to prevent the reintroduction of true alternative fuel sources. This is a machine with many allies. It will resist quietly, relying upon our pacifism, and will, if required to do so, fight back ferociously. You're being invited to join a defiant, aggressive revolution, because nothing less than a revolution will succeed. But more importantly, you're being invited to become, in heart and mind, a patriotic revolutionary yourself.

Challenge #3: Educate yourself. Purchase the following books and DVD. Most Americans don't have a clue as to what hemp production once entailed, and what it was once envisioned to become. Therefore, they have a hard time realizing how beneficial it may yet be to everything we are. If there's going to be a revolution there must be more than good intentions upon which it is built. Hemp is our mechanism. It has the power to invade industry after industry, currently controlled through corporate/governmental collusion. Once re-legalized, its power will alter both our economy and world economies. It's very powerful, very possible, and it's right in front of us.

You'll have to overcome the initial sensation that you're doing something wrong by seeking knowledge. That's the successful social programming of our government influencing your mind. Let go. Be a rebel. Keep in perspective the fact that cultures, economies, and empires for thousands of years before our most recent era viewed the Hemp plant as one of the most valuable on earth for medicinal, nutritional, fuel, and production purposes.

Our anti-hemp mentality is an anomaly and a blotch on history. We're the foolish, uneducated minority among the billions who have passed before us. Stop listening to government propoganda. Educate yourself.

Challenge #4: Seek personal, economic, and intellectual power, and join your voice with mine. Revolutions in the past have been effectively organized among the uneducated, unsophisticated masses. Today the uneducated masses weave to and fro to the dictates of political propoganda. Even the internet is too easy. There are too many voices among the weak, and there is too little action among the strong. It's like any other media: it equates to "infotainment," wherein our senses are excited by words and messages, and we limit our responses to rants at the coffee shop and the occasional ballet box. Anything more is too difficult. So, my challenge is somewhat different. I'm not asking you to forsake the comforts of life. I'm asking you to become more, in every way you can become more, and in every way I can help you to do so.

Become wealthy. Become educated. Can I help you with that? Yes I can. In the process you will improve your own health, life, and the lives of others. You can join me overtly (as an activist), or you can join any area of my business ventures, and thereby quietly lend your support. You may even feel that some of my professional services may meet your needs (I work with parents of struggling teens).

If you have a web site, link it to mine, and allow me to link mine to yours. If you need or are interested in any of the services listed in the columns of this page, research them here. Promote this site and others like it. Open your mouth and speak with the intent to elicit action. Bring people in, and together we will rise.

I have mechanisms at my disposal in which you may become involved. I own businesses. I speak to the world. Join me in all that I do, and together we will become more. I improve families. So can you. I improve business processes. So can you. I grow businesses, I travel the world, and am passionate about living and about life. Come with me on my journey. I am a patriot of the world around me. Join me.

I am Michael Behning, author, entrepreneur, and activist. I will take any person, wealthy or not, educated or not, and if they will give up being a pacifist, I will help them rise. If you join me in all of my endeavors, great. If you join me in only some, great. I surround myself with the powerful, for the powerful give me strength. Weakness is the enemy, and I want nothing to do with it.
